Hi, I’m Megan
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and completed my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas Tech University Health and Science Center. I am a certified registered play therapist and am certified in autplay therapy.
I have a wealth of experience working with children throughout the various developmental stages. Growing up, my mother owned an in-home daycare and this is where my passion with working with children began. During college, I completed my Bachelors of Science in Community Health and interned at Stone Oak Therapy in San Antonio and here I learned how delicate and important the nurturing of children was to help them develop. I went on to complete my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and have previously worked in the neonatal intensive care unit with one of the most vulnerable populations where I began to understand the importance of centering a family centered care approach. I have continued my nursing career working at Texas Children’s Hospital and during this time, I have worked with children and families with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. Here I learned the importance of creating a strengths-based approach in helping all children and families live to their fullest potential. Through my life experiences of working with children at various developmental stages, I have gained an immense respect for community and the importance of utilizing a team based approach in nurturing the mental health of children and families.
My Approach
“Inside every child is a story to be told” -Winnicott
Behavior is the underlying means of communication. I believe in utilizing an eclectic strengths based approach. Through play, I work to connect with each child in their own way and help them learn how to understand, cope with, and communicate their natural big feelings in healthy ways to help the family unit.
